As part of the activities marking April 8 – International Roma Day, the Roma Theater “Nexhip Menekshe”, on Monday evening, presented the premiere of the play “In Search”, bringing to the public’s attention the clear message against discrimination.
Inspired by the work “The Great Fear and Misery in the Third Reich” by Bertolt Brecht, director Mahir Musliu has staged the premiere of the play “In Search” with the Roma Theater “Nexhip Menekshe”, three independent acts of this collection of plays that narrate life under torture and repression, pushing the audience present to reflect on today’s reality.
Director Musliu highly praised the team’s commitment and dedication to staging this drama, which, according to him, has also received validation from the audience present.
“The calm that reigned during the performance showed that we achieved our dramaturgical, scenic, and artistic goals,” Musliu declared.
Meanwhile, the actors, Fatmir Menekshe and Daut Qylanxhiu, have admitted that staging Brecht’s work has been challenging, but that after several months of work, a satisfactory result has been achieved.
Amateur Roma theater actors Fatmir Menekshe, Daut Qulangjiu, Gjelal Dogani, Benjamin Menekshe, Melisa Menekshe, Gjynejt Kallo, Mijedin Shope, Gynesh Veshall and Urma Menekshe, appeared on stage with a sensitive, sincere and energetic performance, creating an immediate connection with the audience.
With natural interpretation and visible dedication, each of them brought different dimensions to the characters, ranging from the fragility of emotions to the inner strength conveyed through words and body language.
